She had been using sound to escape from her own interior life, including feelings of purposelessness and uncertainty about her career in music.
Nada Yoga teaches that all existence is vibration. Sound is not just something people hear, but something they are. The practice involves sitting and listening without judgment or anticipation. The goal is to let sound move through the mind instead of bouncing off a distracted surface.

The second practice is conscious music listening. Choose one song and listen with full, undivided attention. No phone, no multitasking. Notice the silence between the notes as much as the notes themselves. Notice what the music brings up in your body. When the mind wanders, gently return to the sound. The sound becomes the anchor instead of the breath.
The third practice is to sit with a single tone. Find a singing bowl, a tuning fork, or a single sustained note on a piano or guitar. Let it ring out and follow it with full attention until it fades. Ask where the sound ends and where the silence begins. Sitting with that question, not to answer it but to inhabit it, can open something deep.
